Kathryn (Kathy) Brown is a tax attorney with a focus on issues affecting tax exempt organizations and nonprofit organizations.

Before joining the firm, Kathy was a Tax Litigation Attorney for the South Carolina Department of Revenue handling state tax and alcohol regulatory matters. She appeared regularly in the Administrative Law Court, the Circuit Court, the Probate Court and the Masters-in-Equity Court. She has argued and won cases before the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Kathy also served as a law clerk in the federal court for Senior U.S. District Judge G. Ross Anderson, Jr. Prior to the practice of law, Kathy worked for two Fortune 500 companies; first in pharmaceutical manufacturing and later in building materials manufacturing.

After receiving her Bachelors degree from Wake Forest University, Kathy earned a J.D. from the Charleston School of Law, an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida, and a Masters in International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina, during which time she studied at the Universidad de San Jose in San Jose, Costa Rica and worked at a Fortune 500 technology corporation in Caracas, Venezuela.
